Review My Resume – Tips from someone who’s read 10,000 of them
Resumes can be scary to write. Trying to sum up your entire life’s work on 2 pages is hard work! Honestly, it’s worse than writing an online dating profile, and I should know; I met my husband online.
Anyway, the point is, I know a lot of work goes into a resume, into highlighting the relevant parts of your work life to attract the attention of whoever’s reading it. It’s difficult to know what the recruiter is thinking and how best to appeal to them, but here are three things to start with:
- You don’t have much time-A good recruiter can scan a resume in 10 seconds and find what they need
- The harder they have to think, the slimmer your chances-make it easy for them to find the right info
- Comic Sans is not a business font– please, just trust me on this one
Now that that’s out of the way, I’d love to give you some more targeted attention.
